Is it true that slow retrieve is always the best for walleye when using lures? thank you
Posted on October 11th, 2016Hi Zalug, not necessarily. If walleye are in-active, slow presentation works well. When walleye are actively feeding they can strike their prey at up to 20 mph+ and can be voracious hunter/feeders.
One of my favorite ways to catch actively feeding walleye is casting & retrieving crankbaits. Most of the time my retrieve speed is about 3-4 mph. I have caught lot’s of walleye trolling at 3 mph and even up to 5 mph.
