Hi Bob…I have not fished Thompson Lake so I am not familiar with it. I have a feeling it will have smallmouth bass in it. If it has trout, they will be deep, so deep trolling or jigging should produce trout. For the smallmouth bass I recommend you take a variety of lures including; topwater lures like the Rapala Skitter Pop and Storm Chug Bug in the 3-4″ size. some Vibrax #2 & #3 spinners, a variety of soft-plastics including 4′ plastic minnow grubs, 3″ twister-tail grubs, 4″ tubes and the appropriate jigheads/hooks, a few Rapala crankbaits like the Rapala Dives To Thug and the Jointed #7 Rapala. For the trout you may want to take a variety of small Lucky Strike spoons you can use for deep trolling and also for vertical jigging. The Half Wave and Dominion are a couple of my favorite….God bless you, Italo
