i live in southwestern ontario i would love to fish for gar where is the closes and best area to catch one.

If you want to wade for them the south shore of Georgian Bay is good early in the season (shallow, limestone bottom that gradually gets deeper). They will be in water less than 4′ deep. Most other areas you will need a boat to fish shallow bays. Lower Niagara River is good, and Bay of Quinte.
