I don\’t have downriggers, but can I use dipsy divers and how is this best used in deep water?

Hi Mark…Anyone can use Dipsey Divers. Dipseys come in different diving models from 10-50+ feet, so depending what type of fish you are going after and how deep they are, that will determine which size Dipsey Diver you use. When Dipseys are “engaged” (dive), they put a lot of resistance on rods. Dipsey Diver anglers use heavier rods that are designed to be used with Dipsey Divers. I recommend that if you are seriously going to Dipsey Diver fish, that you also invest in a proper Dipsey Diver rod and a trolling reel with a counter on it. I would also encourage you to check out the previously answered questions on “trolling” which covers many of the different trolling techniques. You can do this by going to the Ask Italo home-page and using the search engine. When the list appears, scroll down to “trolling”, highlight it and than click on the “submit” button….God bless you, Italo
