I am getting ready to go brook trout fishing. What line, hooks, lures, bait do I need? Thank You
Posted on April 17th, 2008Hi Colin…If you are going stream-fishing for brook trout worms fished on a small #8 ir #10 hook with 4-6 lb. test line and just enough split-shot sinkers to help the worm drift naturally near the bottom in the current works best (split-shot sinkers should be at least 12″ up from the hook). You can also cast small Panther Martin & Vibrax Spinners in sizes #1 or #2. If you will be lake-fishing, you may want to troll with a small worm harness/worm, with small 1/8 oz. spoons, Count Down #2 & #3 Rapalas, and even with a spoon/leader and hook/worm combination to locate the trout (use a 2-3″ long spoon and replace the hook with another swivel so that there are swivels at both end of the spoon. Tie the spoon onto your line and than tie a 1-2\’ long leader at the end of the spoon to which you attach a hook/worm). Once you locate them you can either drift-fish over them or anchor and cast & retrieve….God bless you, Italo
