Posted on April 23rd, 2016Hi Matthew, the steelhead in all of the Lake Ontario tributaries have moved as far up-stream as they could to find suitable spawning areas. Some are in the process of spawning, many are done spawning and are making their way back to the lake, and a few have not spawned yet.
Right now we have low, clear water levels so the steelhead in the upper stretches of all Lake Ontario tributaries are limited to the deeper pools and runs. On the Credit the best stretches to fish are those that are north of Streetsville, ON. Unfortunately much of the area is private property so there is limited access. When we get the next heavy rain many of the steelhead will be “flushed” down-stream towards the lake. That’s when fishing the pools again around north of Dundas St. (Hwy.#5), will have quite a few fish moving through.
