Hi Italo,Our family is looking to experience a wilderness fishing adventure in Ontario that we can drive to that offers good to excellent fishing(walleye, pike,) that offers an American plan setting (meals included plus a possible shore lunch experience). My wife enjoys fishing but is a novice along with our nine year old son. We’re basically looking for a good fishing experience for the whole family to be able to catch some fish and enjoy the setting as well. Do you have any suggestions from your experience with Barb where the whole family can enjoy great fishing and a wilderness setting without all being pro fishermen. Maybe your top three places would be a great start for us. We live in the K.W area and don’t mind the drive. Thanks Barryp.s. love your show!Posted on September 10th, 2015
Hi Barry, thank you for your kind words. The best time of year for you to take experience a drive-to wilderness fishing experience with your family is July/Aug. when the temperature is stable, less biting insects than early summer and both walleye and pike should bite well. The first is a drive/train to adventure that I think is at the top of the list. Here are my top 3 picks for you:
1.Marmac Lodge, 88 miles north of Chapleau, ON. (drive to Chapleau than take the Bud Trail to mile marker 88 where you are picked-up by boat and taken for a 5 min. ride to the lodge. You can see samples of the shows we shot there by going to our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xajxOcw7re8 .
2.Red Pine Wilderness Lodge, 1 1/2 hr. north-east of North Bay, ON. (drive to Moffat Landing where they pick you up by boat and take you over the dam to Lady Evelyn Lake). You can see samples of the shows we shot there by goingto our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYPXjX6-AMw .
3.Horwood Lake Lodge, 1 hr west of Timmins, ON. (drive right to the lodge). You can see samples of the shows we shot there by goingto our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH82ch9yxbw .
