Hi ItaloI was wondering if there is anything to catch at this time of year in the frenchmans bay channel and what lures you recomend, it is not frozen now and the rest of the bay is frozen but doesnt look safe for ice fishing. Thank youPosted on January 31st, 2016
The channel going into Frenchmen’s Bay and the surrounding Lake Ontario water may have cruising rainbow and brown trout that are feeding in and around the Pickering Generating Station warm-water outflows.
Best to fish for them when the lake is calm and the channel has clear water (instead of turbid). Cast 1/4 oz. spoons like the Lil’Cleo, a Vibrax #3 or #4 spinner and also a Jointed Rapala #11 in all directions and cover the different water deths.
