Hi Italo:I live in Southwestern Ontario (Waterloo Region) and love kayak fishing. I was wondering if you have any recommendations on where to launch a kayak in areas that would hold a variety of fish. I am always worried about current/waves and wind but I’d love to know where to safely access bigger waters like the great lakes.Thank you!MarkPosted on May 7th, 2020
Hi Mark, The Lower end of the Grand River below the Dunnville Dam is a good place to launch. There is a public boat launch right below the dam next to the apartment bldg. The river has channel catfish right now and walleye with panfish like white bass and white perch coming up soon. At Port Maitland there is also a boat launch that can give you access to Lake Erie. The walleye should start to be good there near-shore in 15-30’ of water especially around Tecumseh Reef, west of Port Maitland. That safe are will also be excellent for smallmouth bass once the season opens…God bless you.
