Hi Italo,I hope you and your family are doing well and had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!My brother and I and upto 4 of our likeminded middle-aged cousins are planning a weekend ice-fishing 'boys' trip. We're looking for a nice lodge to spend a couple nights and large enough ice huts to accommodate us all. We're willing to commute upto 3 hours from the GTA. The hope would be to have a reasonable prospect of consistently catching fish as opposed to trophies. Thanks in advance .Nick

Hi Nick, we are doing well, thank you. A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family also. Tough to guarantee steady action through the ice anywhere. Lake Simcoe is always an option. You could stay at Peninsula Resort in Pefferlaw, ON and enjoy steady jumbo perch fishing.

Or, you if you don’t mind driving a little further, you may want to book a cottage at Mashkinonje Lodge on Nipissing’s West Arm where you can target lake herring, jumbo perch, walleye and pike. Before you book consider booking either one I would suggest you contact them, check on ice conditions and the fishing…God bless you.
