Hi Italo when would be a good time to start targeting carp I am looking to head out to the marina on the upper river this spring to try it out. I saw lots of big ones running around in there while fishing for pike a couple years back. At what water temp do they usually start their spawn Thank you see you at the show this weekend.

Hi Pete…I have friends that fish for carp all winter long in rivers like the Grand, Conostoga and Thames, so they can be caught even when water temepratures are very cold. Most “hard-core” carp anglers will start fishing for them in late March/April when they are in large schools and “staging” before finding their spawning sites. Most anglers will fish for them once the weather get’s nicer and water temperatures are nearing the 50F mark….God bless you, Italo
