Hi Italo There is not too much info about Splake. Can you point me where I can find some lakes North East of GTAKawartas where to hook some splake Also what you think will be a goot lure thechique and time of the year. All the best SIR.

Hi Peter….The best thing I can suggest is that you contac the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources head office in Peterborough, ON and ask to speak to the head biologist about any lakes that still offer good splake fishing. As you probably know, a splake is a cross between a lake & brook trout. Unfortunately, if they reproduce, the revert back to one species or the other. The same techniques that work for lake & brook trout will work for splake. Casting spoons, spinners, etc., and trolling them in shallow water early and late in the year, and general ice fishing techniques (live minnows on tip-ups of twig-rigs, or gigging with trout lures)…God bless you, Italo
