hi italo , my question is i live in southwestern ontario and would like to catch a gar where would the closest place were i could try.

Hi Mike, Longnose Gar are common in the Great Lakes and the tributaries. Some locations have more concentrations of them than others. Not sure where you live in southern Ontario. Georgian Bay, Bay of Quinte, and the larger rivers like the St. Lawrence River, Detroit River, Niagara River, Grand River & Thames River have good populations. The key is locating them on the surface when they are in shallower areas and it’s not too wavy. Timing is everything and June/July seem to be the better months to catch them.
