Hi Italo, My luck in crappie fishing is not very good at all and I was hoping that you can help me ?.I am fishing this wkend at Upper Buckhorn around Curve Lake do you know of any hot spots to catch crappies? Thank you for your kind words. I am more familiar with the spring Crappie fishing in Pigeon Lake than Upper Buckhorn. If you have a boat, I would encourage you to make the run and check the following areas on Pigeon: marina inlet & docks at Happy Days Houseboat Rentals (on the west shore, just north of Grenadier Island), Long Point Bay (west-shore, going towards Bobcaygeon, ON), & the inlets & marina basin to the west of Three Sisters Shoal. I have more spring crappie spots, but they are at the north end of the lake around the Ouse River mouth. Crappie will be shallow now in water less than 7′ deep, around docks and in marina basin channels. Timing is critical. They can be there throughout the day, or just move in just before dark. Best presentation is to use a sensitive “slip-bobber” rig with 4-lb. test monofilament and 1/8 oz. jigheads/1″ plastic grub.
