Hi italo, my friend and i were planning on putting a canoe into the welland river and try fishing for whatever will be biting. I watched your kayak fishing video which is what mainly inspired us to do so. Ive fished the river before but never in a canoe, i was wondering where good places to put the canoe in would be (preferably easy access) that would offer some good fishing. Thanks in advance!Posted on July 10th, 2015
Good access right in Welland, ON off the River Road boat launch, just north of Bruce St. That stretch is especially good for pike and smallmouth. Good smallmouth bass fishing near the outflow of the Pump Building just north of the Aquaduct (good to fish with live bait near bottom), or troll/cast Vibrax #4 spinners along the weedlines and around the weeds for pike.
