Hi Italo interested in fishing Lake Erie for smallmouth bass. What is the best time of year. Where can I launch my boat. Where can I stay preferably overnight where I can stay and leave my boat in the water. Thanks Mike
Posted on August 7th, 2016Hi Michael, some of the best Smallmouth Bass fishing for trophy fish is Oct./Nov. on Lake Erie. When the water temps drop, big smallmouth congregate in high number over off-shore reefs. Right now they are dispersed anywhere form 10-40′ depths.
Most anglers that bass fish Lake Erie trailer their boat, launch/pull-it-out each outing. I don’t know of any location that has docks and accommodations. Most popular launch areas in the eastern-basin of Lake Erie are; Fort Erie boat launch, Crystal Beach boat launch, Port Colborne boat launch and Port Maitland boat launch. I would encourage you to find a motel close to where you plan on launching and just pull your boat out and park it near your room.
