Hi Italo, I’m looking to take my son and his friend fishing this week somewhere near Hamilton, ON. We haven’t got a boat, nor a lot of expertise. Where can you suggest I take them for the best chance of success? They seem most interested in Pike and Bass…Thanks!Posted on August 26th, 2015
If you don’t mind driving 45 min, the Welland Recreational Canal in Welland, ON is a good place to fish from shore. You have over 22 km of walkable and fishable shoreline (both sides of canal). The canal is 30′ deep in the center with weelines on both side coming out from shore to about the 12′ depth. It is ideal to cast top-water lures for bass, to use slash-baits like the Rapala Shadow Rap, or live bait. For pike “twitching” the Rapala Husky Jerk #14 works well also.
