Hi Italo. I was wondering what part of Lake Erie is good for small mouth this time of year. I’ve been fishing the Long Point area with mixed results. Thanks Jeff

The entire lake is good for smallmouth. The key is to locate fish that are either moving on/off shallower water structure early and late in the day, and deeper reefs that will hold feeding smallmouth all day long. Smallmouth can migrate quite a bit similarly to walleye throughout the day. They can be in 5-10′ of water at daybreak and by mid-day be on reefs as deep as 40′. If you find structure at those depths at different times of the day you will find the smallmouth.
