Hi Italo i was planning to go up to fish at the ganaraska river this weekend. what can i fish for there and what baitlures should i be using. Thanks for all your help Ryan
Posted on July 28th, 2014Hi Ryan…The Lower Ganaraska (below the dam), will have mostly smallmouth bass in the deeper pools and runs all the way down to the harbor. Small Rapala Ultralight Minnow, Shad and Crankbait, Vibrax #1 spinner, and small plastic grubs fished on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz.jig will work well for them. If you fish the upper stretches from Sylven Glen Conservation Area (just north of Hwy.#2), and all the way up to Kendal, ON, you can catch resident brown trout, some brook trout and the odd “hold-over” steelhead that may be holding in some of the deeper pools. Small spinners like the Vibrax will work well for the trout as well as drifting garden worms with a couple of split-shot sinkers anywhere trout could be holding. There will also be lot’s of chub and common shiners in the slower pools that will readily take a worm…God bless you, Italo
