Hi italo i think i will take a trip up to the scugog river by east cross creek for frog fishing and put in at river road, the east side of scugog island you suggested looks like its harder to reach via kayak, especially if the wind is blowing. Have you heard any reports this year indicating if there are bass holding under the weed matts in the scugog river by east cross creek or is it to low oxygen in the shallows?, most of the areas i fish in scugog on the west side, i can only find bass holding on the deeper weeds, few under the lily pads and weed mats. Are there any different lakes i would likley do better frog fishing or is scugog my best bet?Just wanted to clarify as i have had a hard time finding frog fish, thank you Italo and God bless you

Hi Alex, the Scugog River, East Cross Creek and Mariposa Brook should be a good option since there is high water levels this season and the fish should be holding in the vast lily pad areas in East Cross Creek and also on the shorelines of the Scugog River. The river has good depth in the middle, then there is a shallow bar that runs up the north side where few boats can go over and then it gets deeper again close to the cattails on the north-side of the river. The only report I have been getting on Scugog is from my friend Ed Dolstra who fishes it regularly. He has been doing well fishing around the thicker weedbeds in the main lake that are away from the shorelines casting and retrieving spinners…God bless you.
