Hi Italo – I need some help and advice – my fovourite fishing reel is my old Mitchell 300, which I have owned for about 40 years. I do have another which I have used for parts and until now I have been able to do my own repairs – which hasn\’t been very often. The PROBLEM – my drag is slipping out of gear – I have inter-changed parts with my \”parts reel\” – everthing works well in that reel, but doesn\’t in the one I use. I can\’t use my parts reel because it is for the opposite hand – I know that I can\’t interchange things like the housing, bail arm, etc.. – but the internal gears and drag lever (L shaped with gear teeth) look the same. The PROBLEM – everything looks fine, but when I try to use it, the drag continues to slip – I have worked on this for the last several days and it has me stumped! Do you hav any ideas? Or can you direct to to some one who can repair it? I live in the Picton Ont. area. Thanks – Dennis Fox

Hi Dennis…Older Mitchell reels were built very well. I would suggest you contact “the source”. Mitchell is presently owned by Pure Fishiing (the people that own Berkly, Power Bait, Fenwick, etc.). My best advice is that you contact Cam Thomson at,
cdthompson@purefishing.com
…God bless you, Italo
