Hi Italo I am going to be fishing the Welland River this weekend. Probably launching in Chippawa and then heading back towards Welland. I have heard that there is good fishing if you go all the way back to where it goes under the canal. Have you ever fished there and have any comments on what might work at this time of year Should we be targeting bass or walleye Or do you think it is better further upriver on the other side of the canal. I know you have done a number of shows on that part of the river with great success. Love your show keep the coming!!

Hi Rick…Thank you for your kind words. I have not fished the lower Welland River, from Chippawa going south. I have only fished it south of Welland and just north of Welland to the aqueduct at the Welland Canal. The last two times I went out on the Welland I had no luck (nothing), so have no idea how it will be this weekend. You may be better off going into the Upper Niagara and drifting 4″ tubes along the bottom and casting crankbaits along the shorelines and weelines. I have a feeling you will have better luck there….God bless you, Italo
