Hi italo I am currently fishing at the port davidson dam on the welland river what type of fish are here and what would be a good choice of bait so far I have got 2 bull heads on worms we are fishing from shore. Thank you and God bless

Hi Dave….That section of the Welland River has mostly coarse fish like suckers, carp, bullhead catfish and channel catfish. There is the occasional largemouth and even smallmouth bass, pike and some panfish, but mostly coarse fish. If you would like to target some of the larger fish from shore I would encourage you to either fish sweet corn kernels on a hook for carp, or a chunk of white sucker meat (about 1″ square), for trophy channel catfish. Both should be fished right on the bottom with a sliding-sinker rig…..God bless you, Italo
