Hi Italo, hope your doin well. my question is about reel maintenence. I\’m wondering for both spinning and baitcasting reels, would grease or oil be used on which reel, or are the particular differences in which application to use them in? thank you
Posted on April 11th, 2001Hi Darrell….Good question. I think very few people consider that they should do lubricant-maintenance on their reels regularly, especially if they fish them hard. A good quality “thin viscosity” machine-oil should be used on all “external” moving parts of a reel. This includes the bail, the handle, and where the spool-housing rotates around the body of the reel. The inside of the reel should be lubricated around the gears and main shaft using a light-viscosity gear-grease…God bless you, Italo
