Hi Italo first off its an honour to ask you a question love your show and knowledge always have. Ok i am heading out to lake temagami july 613 was wondering what can i expect what can i use love smallie pike pickerel and all that swims is it really that good of a smallie lake
Posted on July 18th, 2013Hi Chris…Thank you for your kind words. Yes, Temagami is an excellent clear-water smallmouth bass lake! The smallies should still be close to shorelines structure and around open-water structure like islands, bars, shoals, reef and off points in 10-15′ of water. A good way to locate them is to either troll with an Origianl #7 or #9 Rapala, or if you like to cast, twitch a Rapala Husky Jerk #14 right over the structure breaks. Once you locate a productive area, dragging a 4″ tube jig on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz. jube jighead will work really well. If you like to use bait for them, leeches fished on a drop-shot rig with a 3/8 – 1/2 oz. sinker will work well. VMC has excellent Spin Shot drop-shot hooks for this purpose. For walleye, the best area to fish is the south-end of the lake where the water comes up from 20-12′, either trolling with a worm harness, Vibrax #3 or #4 spinner/worm, or a Rapala deep-diving crankbait. Pike will be around any new weed grown in bays and along shorelines. Best to cast spinnerbaits for them or twitch a Rapala Husky Jerk #14…..God bless you, Italo
