Hi Italo could you please tell me where exactly,on the welland river you fish,I grew up in welland but moved away 16 years ago and the walleye were not in the river then.Thank’s so much.p.s. I’ve watched your show for at least 20 years.

Thank you for your kind words. I fish both the south and north side of the Welland River, Welland, ON. I have caught walleye in both stretches, but I must tell you they are not always there.

I think they really move throughout the river. I have caught several nice walleye in a short period of time and I have also been skunked on many occasions. I still have not figured out their movement completely. I have not caught them early or late in the season, or through the ice, only in the middle of summer (July/Aug). I fish any of the steep-dropping shorelines that go down to 7′ depth and any rocky areas of the river where structure is created (not too many). I do rely on my Raymarine to locate the subtle structure and then I crank’it. I have caught them randomly off weedlines, shorelines and around bridges. Hope this helps.
