Hi Italo: Can you please tell me where the channel cats take up residence in the late fall and early winter. I would be particularly interested in the Bay of Quinte area. Any specific areas would be appreciated. Thank you. Elmar
Posted on October 11th, 2007Hi Elmar…When water temperatures drop, channel catfish head to deeper water. In the Bay of Quinte they winter in the “main-bay-basin”. Ice anglers often hook channel catfish fishing for walleye there in 15-25\’of water. The colder the water temperature gets, the more lathargic catfish become, to the point of almost being in-active (tough to catch). One of the most reliable areas to catch them on the Upper Bay of Quinte during cold water periods is between Telegraph Narrows & Massassauga Point….God bless you, Italo
