Hi Italo. Been a long time since I’ve written to you but have been a long time fan and still really enjoy your incites…We are planning a day trip this Saturday up to the Moon River basin area and was wondering what the best techniques, bait, colour to use for catching pike and walleye. Also, if you would know any specific areas to try within the Basin.Thank you in advance.

Nice to hear from you. Water will still be cold there and weeds not fully up. Best for you to cast spinnerbaits to any new weed-growth and in the shallower bays for pike. If you are there just for the day, you may have a hard time locating walleye that fast. Best technique for them is to troll a bottom-walking sinker with about a 2-3′ lead and either a #11 Original Rapala, or a worm-harness/worm and bounce the weight at 1-2 mph along the bottom in 10-20′ water, especially around the points, island, and out from the shallower bays.
