Hi, I’m planning on going fishing on manitoulin island, bay cabins, where you We’re. Just wondering when you were There for rainbow. Trying to go at the Right time for the spring run of rainbow. We will be fishing from shore, we areOlder poeple so we need a fairly easyPlace. Thank you so muchLynnePosted on April 8th, 2017
Hi Lynne, we had our best fishing there in May. We did most of our fishing casting & trolling from a boat using spoons, Rapalas & flies, but you can catch the same fish casting or using bait (minnows, worms & roe bags), form shore. The shoreline right in front of Bayside Resort . Many of the “escaped” rainbow trout form the aquaculture pens remain in Manitowaning Bay all year. In the spring when the water is cold they cruise as shallow as 2′ to feed and many cruise along the 8-12′ break just off the shorelines. As the shallow waters warm up they feed deeper (summer time).
