Hi, can you tell me why when i use my dipsy diver and let some line out it keeps flipping over and stays on the surface. i am not using a downrigger

Hi James….Sounds like you don\’t have it “engaged” to dive. The metal-arm to which you attach your main line is designed to snap into the slit (tension can be increased or decreased by tightening or loosening the side-screw), that is in the plastic on to top-side of the Dipsey Diver. In this position, once you place the Dipsey in the water it will immediately dive. When a fish hits (if the tension is set right), the metal-arm will release from the Dipsey enabling it to come to the surface while you fight the fish….God bless you, Italo
