Hi again Italo, is it usually not legal to fish very close to fish ladders? I have seen a sign saying fishing is not allowed, unless 75 feet or something downstream. Some fisherman say that any dam has the same rules, even if it doesn’t have a ladder. But I don’t think that’s true. Thanks!

If you look at page.12 of the Ontario Fishing Regulations you will see that it clearly says; “It is illegal to fish within 22.9m (75 feet), downstream from the lower entrance to any fishway or canal, obstacle, or any devise designed to assist fish around an obstacle”. The obstacle above refers to any dam, fish-weir, ¬†fish-ladder, waterfalls, etc. that concentrates fish in a limited area for a length of time.
