hey Italo what size walleye and pike can I catch at Wellers Bay? What presentation should I use to catch good sized pike and walleye? Am I better off fishing Quinte if I am looking to catch big ones?
Posted on March 27th, 2015Hi Mike…The walleye in Weller\’s Bay may be a little bigger than in the Upper Bay of Quinte (Belleville to Sherman\’s Point). The walleye in the Upper Bay have been averaging about 3 lb. with 6 lb. fish pretty common. If you want to catch trophy walleye, your best bet is to fish the Lower Bay out of Picton, ON and fish the deeper-water weedlines in Picton Bay and going out of the Bay towards Hay Bay and Lake Ontario. The walleye there should be more in the 5-10 lb. range. My favorite presentation there is casting the Rapala Tail Dancer in the #9 & #11 size along the weedlines. You also catch incidental pike using the same presentation/area averaging 10-17 lb.)…God bless you, Italo
