Hey Italo, I’ve been out a few times this year for steelhead but haven’t caught anything yet. My two favourite rivers are the credit and niagara. I have been using brown/rainbow roe tied in big bags for the muddy water and also 10 and 12mm beads. Should I be looking for specific pools on the river, should I be downstream towards lake ontario almost to the slack water? Any advice you can give me is much appreciated!
Posted on April 3rd, 2015Hi Nalagen…Right now all of the guys I have talked to that are fishing the Lower Niagara are catching most of their fish on live minnows. If you are shore-fishing you will do best fishing 3-4″ streamers, with or without an attractor/floater like the Lil’Corki. For the Credit River, the steelhead should be indeed going throught the lower section. If you can get down, I would fish just below the QEW bridge in the “all year” open stretch using a roe bag/float presentation….God bless you, Italo
