Hey Italo – hope you’re not suffering too much from this nasty air quality in Ontario. I’m heading up to Lady Evelyn Lake for a few days at the end of the month. Hoping to get into some walleye and smallmouth with a few pike for good measure. I don’t have much experience targeting walleye – do you have any tips for finding them? I have plenty of practice with bass but I’m all ears if you have any suggestions for finding the big ones :) In fact, any tips in general for Lady Evelyn Lake would be outstanding! All the best-Alex

Hi Alex, Lady Evelyn is an awesome Walleye & Smallmouth Bass Lake. A good friend just arrived back from there and they caught lots of Walleye up to 24″. One of the best ways to catch them is using a 1/8oz jighead tipped with 1/2 a nightcrawler and fished on the bottom in 6-18′ water. I have had some of my best luck catching larger Walleye there fishing the south-west section around the shoals and reefs where you can see the rocks sticking out of the water but fishing the 12-18′ structure breaks. The best Smallmouth Bass fishing there is in Oct. using top-water lures.
