Hey Italo, big fan!Just wondering how spoon chucking off piers would fare for rainbow fishing. Am I better off drifting roe or pink worms?

Thank you for your kind words. Casting spoons off the piers at the mouths of the Lake Ontario tributaries can produce some fish now but the best time to use artificials at the mouth are either in the fall or late winter when a concentration of steelhead are “staging” in the harbor areas.

Right now most of the steelhead are either in the tributaries or scattered along the Great Lakes shorelines in the vicinity of the river mouths. I think your best bet now is to fish any of the open water pools where there is an “all year fishing season”. The Niagara River is a good bet drifting roe bags, 4″ plastic worms, jig-flies, streamers and also casting 1/4 & 3/8 oz. spoons, Vibrax #3 spinners and Luhr Jensen #5 & #7 KwikFish…God bless you.
