Hello Italo where did you catch such nice bowfin on Lake Simcoe! I know you said it was near Georgina Island is there any other spots closer to the innisfil side of the lake to catch nice bowfin Where would I catch smallmouth on Lake Simcoe besides Cooks Bay on rough waterwindy days Thanks Italo

Hi Adam…We fished the shallow weeds on the south-side. The only other area I can suggest for bowfin is the Holland River and south-end of Cook’s Bay. Bowfin are very nocturnal and they migrate a lot searching for food (they love to feed on crayfish), so timing is very important. Smallmouth bass love shallow, rocky structure. You can find them feeding on any rocky point that goes from shore to about 15′ of water. They would especially feed there in high numbers when the wind is stiring-up food for them. Best presentation to use is a 4″ tube rigged on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz. tube jighead dragged along the bottom…..God bless you, Italo
