Hello Italo. Whats your opinion on using UV charged lures or spoons that hold a glow stick for Simcoe Perch? See alot of lure companies selling more of these now and wonder if they are designed to catch fish or fishermen?

Hi Michael, the most productive lures for ice-perch include: small vertical jigging spoons (with or without rattles), the Jigging Rapala line of lures, a 1/8 oz. jighead & 2 1/2″ Fin-S Fish, Smackin’Spoons and other jigs/plastic grubs either fished naked, or tipped with a small minnow, real grub, or soft-plastic attractor. Phosphorescent (glow-in-the-dark) painted lures do work well in low-light conditions without exposing them to a bright light, they seem to work well on their own as well as all the natural and fluorescent colored ice-lures. I have not used small “glow-stick” on lures and I don’t think I will since I have excellent results with the lures I described above….God bless you.
