Hello Italo.. What I can see from your blog you had a great day on simcoe last weekjan152011 also. A friend and I also had a wonderful perch filled day on lake simcoe. caught some good 11 12 inchers also ran into some great fighting cisco. always a thrill but me and my fishing partner went for some whitefish today jan 23 2011 but only got some dinky perch that must have been hungry because they were hitting a pretty far sized spoon. We were fishing on the south side of snake island we moved around from 50 to 70 feet of water. I was wondering if we were doing something wrong or should i be using something else rather then my trusty spoon and what would be the best place to start fishing for lake trout on simcoe all your help is very appreciated

Hi Trevor…You were not doing anything wrong, and you were fishing in a good area. I just think it’s a little early in the season for the whitefish to school-up and feed in high numbers. I have had the same report from other anglers and I had the same experience fishing in 70′ for whitefish catching just perch on the Williams Whitefish spoon….kind of strange. I have a feeling that in a few weeks the whitefish fishing will be much better…God bless you, Italo
