Hello Italo; I have a purely pleasure boat we keep at St Catharines Marina (Regal 2250 – no fishing equipment other than rod holders mostly for decoration and a 4″ lowrance chartplotter/fish finder). I’ve never fished Lake Ontario, but have heard rumours that there are some pickeral off Port Dal. pier west sideAlso, I marked a ton of something off the Port Weller east spit (about here 43° 14.826’N, 79° 12.660’W) the other day in about 25-30′ of water at dusk. Could that be walls? In summary – is there anywhere to fish in the lake nearby without big equipment? We used to fish the river (US side) in the shallows quite a bit but can’t this year. Thanks,Kelly W.

Hi Kelly, Walleye are caught right in Port Dalhousie below the dam at certain times of the year but I have never witnesses or hear of any caught in the lake there or around Port Weller. You best bet is to fish the mouth and lower sections of the Niagara River for them drifting the bottom with worm-harnesses…God bless you.
