Hello Italo I caught a Mirror Carp on June 14 2010. Can you tell me a little about them. Are they rare in Ontario How big do they get in Ontario etc Thanks. DAVE

Hi Dave….Mirror Carp and Leather Carp can be pretty common depending on where you carp fish. When I lived in Oshawa, ON, I fished the mouth of Oshawa Creek, just east of the Simcoe St., bridge and caugth several of both. Many people say that both the mirror and leather carp are mutations of the common carp (they have two alternate genes). As you know, the mirror carp will normally have just a few scales on each side, which are very flashy (like mirrors). Mirror carp can reach weights of over 50 lb. The leather carp virtually has no scales…..God bless you, Italo
