Hallo Italo. Can you please give me some tips to catch walleye from shore at lower Niagara and what spots would be better Queenston or closer to lake and what daytime Thank you.
Posted on June 27th, 2014Hi Andy…As you probably know, walleye are very migratory, especially in river systems. Fishing from shore is not the best way to go for Lower Niagara walleye, but you can catch them from the Queenston Boat Launch and right through The Glen stretch which includes the “Pebbly Beach” run and also the Whirlpool. At all locations, they are incidentally caught by anglers targeting other species like smallmouth bass & coarse fish either using jigs/plastic grubs drifted along the bottom, or a “pickerel-rig” with live minnows. So you can hook them during the day at all three locations, but for the most consistent walleye action in the Lower Niagara, casting crankbaits like the Rapala Tail Dancer #9 & #11 in the same areas at night is best…..God bless you, Italo
