Good morning I would like to know what to do I fish southern Alberta resivoirs for walleye and small lakes for rainbow trout I purchased a 1625 Lund boat I would like to put either a bow mount trolling motor or a 9.9 mercury pro kicker on the back end
Posted on January 11th, 2022Hi Lawrence, good question. If you mostly fish live-bait (slow-troll, cast & retrieve lure/bait combination or troll less than 1 mph in shallower water with small waves or flat water), I would suggest you consider getting an 80 lb. thrust electric trolling motor that has GPS anchor & tracking ability for slow-trolling.
If you are primarily troll using body baits, worm-harnesses and need a trolling speed of 1-2.5 mph in all water conditions (wind & waves), you are best off installing a kicker outboard. If you do end up getting a “kicker” outboard I just wanted to let you know that you can install a https://panthermarineproducts.com/electro-steer-and-steering/ system that enables you to control the speed and direction of your kicker independently…God bless you.
