Good day Italo Ive been an avid fan since you and Henry started and still enjoy your shows today. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction I am planning a BC lake fishing trip this summer and would like to pick up the proper rod and reel set up for trolling deep with dipsy divers. I plan on heading to Lac Des Roches and Osoyoos and Rainbows and Kokanee will be my target. Ive been doing quite a bit of research as I have never used dipsy divers before but would love to hear from you on any suggestions in types of rods and reels. Thanks and God Bless
Posted on March 27th, 2014Hi Vaughn…Thank you for your kind words. Glad you are continuing to enjoy our TV shows. Your planned trip to BC sounds exciting. The top Dipsey Diving rod & reel outfit I can suggest is made by Rapala Canada and it would either be the R-Type Dipsey 8’6″ (http://rapala.ca/products/r-type-trolling), or the Magnum Dipsey 8’6″ (http://rapala.ca/products/magnum-trolling ). You can go with a longer model, but I am partial to the shorter rod for more feel. I would suggest you consider the Rapala Hydros counter reel for either rod. The higher line capacity of the Hydros may be important to you and the counter is crucial for knowing how far down the size Dipsey Diver will be working. Dipsey Divers create a lot of “torque-resistance” as they maintain their diving depth and the heavier Dipsey Diver rods are designed to take that extra torque….God bless you, Italo
