Best techniques for summer bass on pigeon lake?
Posted on March 6th, 2016Hi Bostin, If you want to catch largemouth bass I would recommend fishing the south-end of Pigeon south of Grenadier Island all the way down to the Peace Rd. bridge. As Pigeon Lake gets narrower there are lots of floating cattail shorelines, growing cattail patches and also a lot wild rice right in the middle. There are also several shorelines and small bays that have lily pads.
All those are excellent areas to fish plastic surface frogs, weedless spoons and Texas-rigged worms and other soft-plastics.
For smallies I would fish the rock/weed mix on both the west and east shorelines up from Grenadier Island all the way to the south end of Big Island. Best depth will be 3-10′ fishing either a “twitch-bait” like a Rapala Husky Jerk, X-Rap or Shadow Rap in the open pockets. You can also fish a “wacky-worm” rig or Texas rigged plastic worm, Slug-go or tube in the same areas.
