Feature image shows Kyle Seath with his first freshwater Drum.
I had the pleasure once again to take the winner of the OMNR&F Kids Art Contest fishing for the day.
My team was the Seath family made up of Julie (Mother), Jory left of Julie, brother Kyle and older sister Mackenzie. We started out at 7am from the Crystal Beach, ON boat launch. Our goal, to have fun and fish “drop-shot” rigs for smallmouth, drum and walleye.
Jory started things off by catching the first Drum. Water conditions were good and we headed to some reefs in 20-30′ water. For some reason the Drum were really on and we started catching them within 1 hr.
Her second fish turned out to be a nice-size walleye that hit the “drop-shot” rig in 31′ of water.
The action was so fast with the Drum that at one time we even had a triple-header on! We had a great day on the water and it was nice to fish with the Seath family who really don’t get a chance to get out much together. Hopefully this trip was the start of some family fishing adventrues!
