Saltwater fishing in Florida’s Gulf waters is usually non-stop action, especially if you bottom-fish with bait.
On a recent outing I had the pleasure of taking one of our Florida neighbor Harry out to target some large Grouper. Harry ended up catching the first and largest fish of the trip! We fished cut bait and squid over a broken bottom to catch out fish. To get the bigger Grouper off the bottom we use pretty heavy R-type spinning reels loaded with Sufix 832 braid and 50 lb. fluorocarbon leaders.
Murray Black our friend who is visiting from London, ON was also out and caught his first Grouper. In addition to enjoying catching these excellent gamefish, we also enjoyed a delicious fresh fish dinner!
