Southern Ontario and NY State anglers know what a great fishery the Lower Niagara River is throughout the year. In fact, winter time is best for catching all three species of Lake & Brown Trout, and Steelhead.
Jeff Wood was on a recent outing with good friend Jamie Packard and fished roe bags drifted along the bottom and hooked up to several fish including this nice mix of trout and steelhead. They may not be monsters but they sure fight well. Anglers will be wise to check ice-flow conditions this month as lots of ice will be breaking up in Lake Erie and coming down the river before planning a trip there.
