Niagara River producing Lake Trout.

Posted on May 13th, 2016

The Lower Niagara River is continuing to produce some steelhead  and lake trout, from the Whirlpool, all  they way out to the Niagara Bar.

Anglers are catching them drifting in the current/structure breaks with plastic minnow grubs like the Lunker City Fin-S-Fish and Lunker City SwimFish, and by trolling lures at the  mouth of the river.

Larry Rencken landed a trophy lake trout he caught fishing a plastic minnow grub in the same drift he was catching smallmouth bass and white bass…pretty interesting fishery right now!!
