Niagara River Jumbo Perch Shore Action
Posted on May 20th, 2009
I checked-out the perch fishing along the Upper Niagara River and can confirm that there are plenty of Emerald Shiners in the Upper River at Fort Erie, ON. The jumbo perch have been feeding on them for the last several weeks. Shore anglers fishing the Fort Erie, ON stretch from shore are doing well using “pickerel-rigs” and fishing small minnows with a 1/2 oz. bell-sinker, right on the bottom in 12-20′ of water. If you are planning on heading out, the best fishing is early morning, 5-9am, and again in the afternoon. If you have a minnow net, you can catch your baitfish right off the dock at the Fort Erie, ON boat launch.
