I just had an amazing time enjoying the last ice fishing trip of the season with good friend Rocky Madsen.
Not only did we fish conditions that would have normally been dangerous, but we did it in style by flying over any thin ice and open water areas with Rockys “flying hut”…his custom built hovercraft.
It rides smoothly and can go up to 60 mph…wasting little time getting to your fishing spots! Ice was getting very unreliable, especially around pressure cracks, but we managed to find safe ice and targeted jumbo perch. The fishing was tough but we managed to catch some nice-size perch.
I fished the Jigging Rapala in size W3 and Rocky caught his fish using “goby” soft-plastic grubs. Time to put away the ice gear and get serious with steelhead!
